It’s hard to think of many 100% Pinot Noirs grown on volcanic soils, especially in Italy. Such is this bottle hailing from the terroir of lake Bolsena, a dormant volcano situated on the border between Lazio and Tuscany. It packs bags of flavour and character, none that would remind you of the more known examples of this variety. Very mineral, almost ashy notes, it may not be for everyone, but with such low quantities available it was never meant to be. We recommend serving this natural red wine slightly chilled and enjoying over 1-2 days.
