“Portuguese GluGlu” Vinho Verde, Portugal

£15.00 a bottle

In stock

A side of Portuguese wine that most of us might not be familiar with. To start with, it is a red wine coming from a predominantly white wine region (Vinho Verde), and it is also much lighter and juicer than the majority of heavy, oaked Portuguese reds that fill the UK market. “Bright fruited, a touch darker with (attractive) coal dust tannins, a touch of spice with a bit of spritz for lift. If this came from the Rhone Valley or a fashionable Austrian maker it would probably cost quite a lot more.

INFO ON GROWER

Winemaker: Antonio Ribeiro Pereira. Wine region: Vinho Verde, Sub-region Amarante

António Pereira’s vineyard “Quinta do Freixo” is located on the banks of the Tâmega River in Amarante, Vinho Verde. Pereira’s wines are made from organic Tinta Nacional (The name for Vinhao in the area), an indigenous red tincture grape variety that produces deep colours and flavours. Unique winemaking process restricts the influence of anything but the grapes on the wine, generating fruity and delicate red Vinho Verde with great flavour.
