Made from Gamay by Nestor Bélicard Lancié, this Lancié 2018 vintage brings a savoury edge to generous dark-cherry fruit, with hints of wild berries, delicate florals and a touch of spice. There’s lovely freshness running through the palate, balanced by fine tannins and an earthy, more savoury character that gives this wine real depth.
A little more grown-up than your easy-drinking Beaujolais, but still full of that irresistible Gamay charm. Give it a little air, serve it slightly cool and bring out the roast chicken, duck or something slow-cooked. The kind of bottle that makes itself very comfortable at the dinner table.
Halfway between Lyon and Mâcon, in the hills of northern Beaujolais, Domaine Nestor Bélicard brings together centuries of family tradition and a fresh vision of winemaking. In 2017, Nestor returned to his childhood home in Lancié to take over the family vineyard, reconnecting with his roots and embracing organic farming and natural winemaking.
The estate began its organic conversion in 2018, with a focus on hand-harvesting, traditional goblet pruning and working the soils without synthetic pesticides. In the cellar, fermentation takes place in century-old wooden vats, using native yeasts and minimal intervention, with little or no added sulphites.
Covering just 5.5 hectares, the estate produces Gamay from the renowned terroirs of Fleurie, Morgon and Beaujolais-Villages. The wines combine vibrant fruit, freshness and structure, expressing the character of their soils with finesse and authenticity.
