A powerful and lively Tempranillo from a 1,000m elevation in Ribera del Duero that is classic on the palate but with that feeling of purity that reminds how wonderfully different it is from many mass-produced red coming from this region.
The grapes were 50% destemmed and 50% whole bunch, macerated for 20 days, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tank, 5 months in old 500l french barrel, bottled in September 2021 and laid down for a few months rest before being released.
It packs delicious fruitiness served on a luscious, dry palate with great depth and tension that is supported by an explosion of ripe, dark fruit and tingling tannins on the very long finish. it would accompany really well grilled red meats or a roast and will really raise your meal to the next level. We recommend opening an hour before drinking (or longer where possible) and serving at room temperature.
Bodegas Coruña del Conde, a family-run winery situated in the village of Coruña del Conde, within Spain's Ribera del Duero region. The estate's vineyards, planted by the current winemaker's grandfather in 1970, are located at elevations exceeding 1,000 metres above sea level. These high-altitude vines benefit from a unique microclimate and have never been treated with pesticides or herbicides, reflecting the winery's commitment to natural and sustainable viticulture.
Bodegas Coruña del Conde employs traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques. Grapes are harvested manually and undergo short macerations of less than 20 days. Depending on the vintage, fermentation may be whole-cluster, carbonic, or semi-carbonic, all conducted with native yeasts. The wines are aged in 500-litre old French oak barrels for approximately five months, followed by additional bottle ageing before release.
