Looking at this Pink sparkling Pet Nat you might ask yourself, well.. how good is it really? We wouldn't be taking a huge risk in saying that it is one of the best value bubblies on our site at the moment. A fantastic cost/pleasure ratio. Engaging light pink colour and an alcohol meter that stopped at 11%, great start. A blend of a red variety (Cabernet Sauvignon) and a white variety (Semillon) cultivated and NATURALLY vinified by the small, biodynamic Domaine Jonc Blanc. Interesting? We got feedback about this bottle along the lines of "its the best wine I have ever had" before continuing with a purchase of a case. Anecdotal perhaps. Smooth, tiny and crispy bubbles hovering over a fluid yet toned consistency that delivers a punchy fruity expression of fresh peaches n' cream and nectarines. It is all well integrated along with generous acidity and some sweet sensation on the finish. We recommend serving chilled.
Domaine Le Jonc Blanc is a family-run estate located in Vélines, within the Dordogne region of Southwest France. Managed by Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal, the domaine is situated on a distinctive white limestone plateau, which lends its name to the estate. The vineyards are cultivated following biodynamic principles and have been certified by Demeter since 2009. The estate is also a member of Renaissance des Appellations, reflecting its commitment to natural winemaking practices.
In the cellar, the philosophy is minimal intervention: fermentations occur with indigenous yeasts, and the use of additives is avoided. Some cuvées are produced without added sulphur, and bottling is done without fining or filtration. This approach aims to produce wines that are authentic expressions of their terroir.
The estate cultivates traditional grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sémillon, and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are managed with attention to biodiversity and soil health, employing practices like cover cropping and manual harvesting to ensure the vitality of the vines and the quality of the grapes.
