A Gamay from 80-year-old vines sourced by Sarnin-Berrux from colleagues in Beaujolais (organic growing, of course). No carbonic maceration here, Morgon lovers will really enjoy this wine. You are greeted with a light red cherry colour in the glass and expressive aromas of Christmas cranberry sauce. On the palate its slender and sharp, direct fruit on the attack continuing with mineral savoury notes and some cherry bitters on the finish. Acidity runs across. Plenty of ageing potential for this wine (like a good Morgon) but certainly something interesting to try now if you want to experience the full force of the variety in its natural state. We would recommend chilling this slightly (although not totally necessary) and serving it with charcuterie or peppery cold cuts.
