A beauty; nasa 2020 is full of Ardéche character and beaming with unique juiciness. Made from a blend of 70% Grenache (red) and 30% Marsanne (white) which produces a "clairet".
Marsanne from about 30 years old vines growing on granitic soil , pressed directly and gently into fibreglass tanks for a slow alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. The Grenache Noir is grown on clay-limestone soil, destemmed and spent 12 days of maceration in infusion (meaning no extraction whatsoever AKA free-run juice), in fibreglass tanks. Once fermentation was finished, the juices were assembled to be aged (AKA elevage / raising / breeding) together for just under a year in enamelled steel vats. Bottled on 27 August 2021 and then aged for another year in bottle.
In our opinion this wine should be treated more like a red than a rosé. Big fruit forward, juicy attack underscored by freshness and a touch of sweet sensation. Its round, generous and surprisingly cohesive. Serve chilled and open 5-10 minutes before serving.
