Trebbiano is a white grape variety that can be found in many of Italy's wine regions, mostly in blends with other varieties. In more recent times, wineries and consumers alike have been pursuing the qualities of the Trebbiano - especially when vinified as an orange wine, with long macerations.
The Trebbiano 2017 by the Casale biodynamic winery is a highly appreciated example; gold colour with orange reflections in the glass, generous aromas of candied orange peel, ripe yellow pear and fresh white peach. The sip electrifying - subtle attack of floral, dry yellow fruit on a low acidity and fluid material; the purity is dazzling.
Excellent match with mildly spicy foods such a north African cuisine, grilled/smoked whitefish or a picnic of fruit and cheese. We recommend opening 60-90 minutes before drinking and serving chilled but not too cold (12-14c). The wine keeps evolving and you will find that it might be more pleasurable 1-2 days after opening.
Quality/price ratio is immense.
