Clos Troteligotte, established in 1987, is headed by Emmanuel Rybinski in Cahors. The plots were sought after and selected by Emmanuel for their rare terroir - red clay, iron rich soil composed of limestone. Cahors is a quiet town in South West France famous for its dense powerful reds made primarily from malbec (known locally as Côt/Auxerrois). Cahors malbec is usually leaner than the bodied Mendoza (Argentina) Malbecs that are popular these days, however has firmer structure and tannins. The two styles have merged as of late, as producers from both areas co-produce and collaborate. Clos Troteligotte self declare their wines "Simple and sincere expression of a fine wine of thirst".
