I'm Natural Don't Panic #17

"Serious GluGlu" Ribera De Duero, Spain
I'm Natural Don't Panic #17

A high-quality Tempranillo from the century-old vines of Bodega Coruna Del Conde at the heart of the famous Ribera Del Duero. Organically tended crus at an elevation of 1,100m above sea level that sees snowy winters and scorching summers regularly. This enables slow maturation of the grapes, which translates to a concentrated juice that remains fresh and silky.

Destemmed, macerated for 20 days, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in fibreglass tank, bottled in September 2021 and laid down for fews months rest before released.

As the name suggests it's an excellent example of a naturally made wine; the kind of big red you would want to have with a hearty meal shared with close-ones.

It would pair well with grilled meats, aromatic, soft cheese and bold Mushroom Risotto. We recommend opening as long as possible before drinking and serving ever so lightly chilled (7-10 minutes in the fridge). Decanting optional. Superb ageing potential.

INFO ON GROWER

Bodegas Coruña del Conde, a family-run winery situated in the village of Coruña del Conde, within Spain's Ribera del Duero region. The estate's vineyards, planted by the current winemaker's grandfather in 1970, are located at elevations exceeding 1,000 metres above sea level. These high-altitude vines benefit from a unique microclimate and have never been treated with pesticides or herbicides, reflecting the winery's commitment to natural and sustainable viticulture.

Bodegas Coruña del Conde employs traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques. Grapes are harvested manually and undergo short macerations of less than 20 days. Depending on the vintage, fermentation may be whole-cluster, carbonic, or semi-carbonic, all conducted with native yeasts. The wines are aged in 500-litre old French oak barrels for approximately five months, followed by additional bottle ageing before release.

This approach results in wines that are expressive of their terroir, showcasing the purity and character of the Tempranillo grape. Bodegas Coruña del Conde's dedication to natural winemaking and respect for tradition make their wines a distinctive representation of the Ribera del Duero region.
