The region near the border between Italy and Slovenia is world-renowned for producing the world's most coveted orange wines. Winemaking traditions in Friuli, Brda and the Karst have been honed for hundreds of years by notable wineries such as Gravner, Radikon, Princic to name but a few. This Rencel, "Vincent 2012", is a blend of Malavasia Istriana, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Vitovska. It is deep, powerful and complex. The experience is somewhere between drinking wine and sipping a mellow brandy; bright golden colour in the glass, aromas of candied citrus, orange peel and a touch of vanilla, honey and cinnamon spice. The palate is direct and generous, it might surprise you how a dry wine can be thick and dense at the same time (Imagine a dry dessert wine); The fruit, alcohol (14.5%) and acidity are harmonious and perfectly integrated, with marked tannins and a touch of noble bitterness on the finish. A long, pleasurable finish. We recommend serving at 16c and aerate 1-2 hours before drinking - You might find that it develops well 1-2 days after opening. Josko suggests that it has fantastic potential to age for another 10 years or even more. 1300 bottles produced. Read less
