Nerello Mascalese is one of Sicily’s finest indigenous grapes, best known for its role in the renowned wines of Mount Etna. Naturally high in tannins and pale in colour, Nerello Mascalese takes on a softer, more approachable style when grown on the island's lower elevation sandy soils, such as those found in the southwest.
In this Due Terre bottling, the grape presents a unique character reminiscent of a light, earthy Rhône Syrah. The wine is fresh and vibrant, with approachable tannins and a delightful profile of bright, tart red fruits, sour cherries, and dark plums. The finish is subtle and savoury, with a hint of wet earth that adds depth to the flavour. We recommend having it lightly chilled.
