Just Enjoy 2020
Excellent orange wine from Slovakia, made by the 3 layered “Hamburger method.” This means that 10-15% of the grapes are foot trodden, 50% whole cluster and the rest is destemmed. This allows the semi-carbonic effect to work efficiently. Kept in these layers, it is macerated for 6 days within open vats. It is then gently pressed, and aged in old oak barrels for 8 months. The Gewürztraminer (Tramin) is dominant but in a juicy, smooth, acid-driven and hyper mineral fashion.

Dry and accurate on the palate with fresh citrus notes on soft, creamy bubbles.

A new natural wine from Domaine Rietsch is always a reason to get excited, even if it doesn’t come with one of those beautiful labels. A blend of 1/3 Gewurztraminer (macerated 15 days) and 2/3 Riesling come together in fantastic harmony in this wine. Expressive aromas of violet, orange blossom and oriental spices lead to the generous and wide mouthfeel, mouthwatering acidity balanced by a soft touch of spice and fresh fruit, all wrapped in dense material.
An excellent wine that really brings out the best of both varieties highlighted by the purity you would expect from this winery.
Tout Feu Tout Flamme 2020 Nature
The name of this natural wine roughly translates to “All Fired UP”, which seems fitting given its bright orange colour. Pure Gewurztraminer exuding dried rose petal, orange blossom and orange peel, which perfectly connects to a full and effortlessly juicy palate with good tension, tannins and very subtle acidity.
This is an elegant and pleasurable wine that is unique yet approachable, from a winery reputable for their perfectionism.
Would pair well with north African cuisine, a cheese board or just to sip (and sip….) at the end of the meal.
