The Macerato has become the flagship wine of Andrea the owner/grower/maker of La Preara. A selection of the best Garganega grapes from his 6.5 Hectare vineyard situated in the heart of Soave Classico, just East of the city of Verona. Its an excellent example of this grape variety made with an extended skin contact period of 30 days. Bright amber in the glass, expressive aromas of candied citrus peel, tropical fruit and a touch of cinnamon and turmeric. The palate is direct and generous, powerful and persistent exuding with flavour and well balanced by slight acidic freshness. The Macerato is a brilliant pairing with Italian salami but also with a variety of Asian cuisine such as a mild curry. It is also delicious with north African cuisine influenced by souk spices. We recommend serving lightly chilled but not cold.
Andrea Pra is the owner, grower and winemaker of La Preara; a tiny estate based at the heart of the Soave Classico appellation just between Verona and Vicenza. The person and the wines are alike, charming, authentic and fun.
